RTejournal is an open access electronic magazine, which publishes articles from the field of generative or additive manufacturing - also known as 'Rapid Technology'. Publication language is German and English. Submitted articles must correspond to the publishing guidelines; they will be peer-reviewed by members of the journal's editorial board. There is no legal claim of publication.

The Term of 'Rapid Technology' (RT), which is commonly named 'Rapid Prototyping (RP)', covers all aspects of generative or additive manufacturing. Generative manufacturing allows the direct production of tangible and complex three-dimensional models from Computer-Aided Design (CAD) data. As no component specific tools are needed, the direct customer-focused production (customization), independent of from lot sizes, is now possible (production on demand).
As a consequence Rapid Technology becomes an integrating element of the entire product development chain. The technology is likely to revolutionize the manufacturing technology and, as a result, to renew the product development as a whole. Rapid Technology covers many different academic disciplines. The fields of application reach from the automotive industry over the communication technology up to the gear-wheel manufacturing.

RTejournal is published by the Aachen University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the 'Centre of University Libraries' (Hochschulbibliothekszentrum NRW) and the Ministry for innovation,science and research of North-Rhine/Westphalia. The journal is part of the project 'Digital Peer Publishing' (DiPP)

ACAM seminar programm 2016

Each Seminar is dedicated to a specific challenge of the AM Field and hosted by one of the ACAM Research Partners, taking their area of expertise into account, such as the basics of additive manufacturing, the practical use of standard CAD software, AM-compatible design, and the opportunities for additive manufacturing in the casting industry.
The Seminar Program, which is held in English (except the one on 13th December will be held in German) is open to everyone who is interested to gain a more comprehensive understanding in the AM Sector and an overview of the trends around design, materials, technologies and industrial processes.

The Institute for tool-less Manufacturing is a supporting partner for special questions and / or problems in the field of AM production. From the optimization of a design to the new concept of a project or prototype. The IwF supports projects or research, particularly in the initial phase, and cooperates directly with research and development. The institute is available in particular for specific questions and problems. University of applied science Aachen

The University of Applied Sciences Aachen was founded in 1971 by the merger of several specialist schools and vocational training centers. Individual predecessor institutions can look back on a more than 100-year, practice-oriented education tradition.

Theory and practice are closely interlinked throughout the course. Due to the close relationship to the professional practice of the approximately 220 professors and about 450 employees in teaching and research, a professionally qualifying, scientifically based training is guaranteed.

The over 8,000 students benefit from this. The FH Aachen offers them training in modern and future-oriented professions. Close co-operation with regional and international companies as well as renowned research facilities, such as Research Center Jülich (FZJ), are reflected in the quality of the courses offered: New requirements of professional language are recognized as an opportunity at Aachen University of Applied Sciences.

Since 2010, a young and technologically inspired team of approximately 20 employees, student assistants and teaching staff has been formed in Goethestrasse of the Aachen University of Applied Sciences. The close cooperation with business partners from various industries and the integration of the research results into university teaching are aimed at exploiting the potential of the technology of additive manufacturing. The entire performance portfolio is covered starting with the design, through the data preparation up to the production and the finished component. The Fabbus (the name is made up of Fabber (digital fabricator) and bus) is a 24 year old Berliener double decker bus. This was planned and modified in the framework of a project in January 2014. On the lower floor, you'll find a variety of visual materials, which bring visitors to 3D printing. On the upper floor, the training courses on 3D printing are held. Here, students and other interested trainers at a total of eight workplaces have the possibility to construct components via a 3D software and print them against one of the makerbots. Application Technician (FH) for Additive Processes / Rapid Technologies

The specialist application technician for additive processes / rapid technol- ogies is a certificate accompanying the course of studies, which takes place in addition to the professional day in the form of a distance study with attendance phases. Students benefit primarily from close cooperation with the Institute for Tool-less Production (IWF) at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences and the Department of Production Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen, as well as with the Association of German Toolmakers and Moldmakers as service partners. In the 2-semester study period the student gets a special insight into the Rapid Prototyping Technoligie and the additive manufacturing.
